from Storm's keynote address at the
Ontario
Economic Summit, November 14, 2007.
The Ontario Economic Summit is an
annual, invitation-only, 1 1/2-day event
sponsored by the
Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
Each attendee pays about $4000 to attend. Former
President Bill Clinton was the keynoter for the
opening reception, and Storm was the afternoon
keynoter for Day One. The conference was
attended by the Premier of Ontario and many
government ministers.
Note: This is not one of
Storm's "regular" talks, which are an
hour long, and which feature about 200
dramatic before-and-after photos of our
communities and planet being restored. This OES
talk was a custom, 30-minute presentation with
only 2 slides, and it was focused primarily on
infrastructure renewal. As such, it doesn't
include most of the jokes, stories, and points
for which Storm's regular talks are known. This
non-standard talk was chosen for YouTube because
it's impossible to feature both the speaker and
the PowerPoint slides effectively in a tiny
video. Thus, a talk without Powerpoint was needed,
so he wouldn't constantly be referring to slides
that YouTube viewers couldn't see.
